18 years ago a woman was not often accepted in the construction industry and definitely not as the lead installer. Established in 2001, I created my first flooring company and named it Joe Floors. The name Joe Floors sounded like a male-owned company so, I used the tools I had to open the door for women.
Watching these women discover new skills they didn't realize they could do before is amazing but it's bigger than that. These women are mothers that struggle to buy school clothes or keep the lights on and what they find here is hope. They become stronger mentally and physically, functional members of society. There are many apprenticeship programs out there that provide a pathway to success but fail to have any significant affect on the statistics of woman in construction trades, I want to help change that.
